Technical Services Section (TSS) is committed to supporting the research needs of its members. Our approach is to subsidize the continuing education costs of members who wish to pursue research in health sciences librarianship, but may lack to means to do so. TSS will provide one annual grant to a TSS member who has taken (or proposes to take) a continuing education class directed at developing research skills. This grant will cover the actual cost of the course--up to the cost of the most expensive, single-day MLA CE course. All incidental expenses, including transportation, room and board are the responsibility of the successful applicant.
The Research Committee prefers that members take classes from the MLA CE roster. Eligible classes for support are those that are listed when searching the MLA Educational Clearinghouse for the general subject "Research Methods." Any program listed here is eligible for TSS support.
Members may apply for TSS support for non-MLA classes. The TSS Research Committee must first approve the class before support will be awarded.
If more than one member applies annually, the TSS Research Committee will select the successful applicant.
